We’re looking for an

Assistant Underwriter


Based in London, and reporting directly to the Divisional Director, the role will be supporting the Professional Lines underwriters to efficiently and profitably manage a diverse and international portfolio of business, of which Professional Indemnity is the cornerstone. This role presents an excellent opportunity to develop technical underwriting skills within a specialist portfolio.


What you will do


  • Supporting the team with the preparation of renewals and business development activities
  • Data entry to an in-house system, underwriting systems & pricing models,
  • Maintenance of management information and delivery of reports
  • Supporting underwriters with the management of delegated authorities
  • Developing and maintaining close working relationships with brokers
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Underwriting Strategy
  • Liaising with internal departments such as Finance, Management Information, Credit Control and Operations to prepare and review data for Lloyd’s and other regulatory returns
  • Produce ad hoc reports and presentations.


What you require for the role


  • Critical thinking and an analytical mind
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to express ideas clearly
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Numerical aptitude
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Predominantly Excel, but also Outlook, and Word)
  • Demonstrable experience in professional lines is preferred
  • A proactive approach and strong work ethic
  • Customer-focused
  • Proven ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise efficiently
  • Drive and ambition to develop and progress.
