We’re looking for a

Capital & Validation Actuary


Based in our London office and reporting to the Head of Capital Modelling, the Capital Actuary will support the expansion of Hamilton’s capital modelling function.

 

What you will do

 

The role is spread across a number of areas and should enable the candidate to develop a wide variety of experience. The candidate will:


  • Contribute to the capital management process across a variety of entities under different regulatory regimes – multiple Lloyd’s syndicates, an Irish domiciled company and the wider group based in Bermuda
  • Contribute to the validation process, including helping to set the scope annually, overseeing the testing schedule and drafting and presenting the report for the Board
  • Contribute to the ORSA process, working closely with the risk management team
  • Contribute to reliable and pragmatic documentation, which maintains Solvency II compliance
  • Support regulatory compliance (including Solvency II, Lloyd’s Minimum Standards) within the Capital Modelling team
  • Produce and manipulate model output for various regulatory returns, model use, validation, management information etc.
  • Support the calculation of robust and documented capital modelling parameters for all risk areas
  • Support the syndicate capitalisation process
  • Provide input into the model use processes as required
  • Contribute to group-wide capital modelling efforts
  • Liaise with external consulting actuaries where necessary in support of the above
  • Keep abreast of developments in the capital modelling and risk fields
  • Liaise with the profession on market and other issues pertaining to capital and planning


    What you require for the role

     

    • Qualified / nearly qualified Actuary, with significant capital and/or validation experience within a non-life insurance environment
    • Experience in capital modelling software, preferably Igloo
    • Creative, proactive and innovative – doesn’t accept the status quo
    • The ability to be both strategic and pragmatic. Must be able to think broadly about the business.
    • Able to quickly build credibility and strong relationships across the business
